Lucretius: Roman Poet; Epicurian Philosopher; Modern Thinker?

Join classicist David Soulsby for an evening exploring On the Nature of Things

A first century BCE Roman poet, his only poem (On the Nature of Things) is a brilliant exposition of the philosophy of Epicurus. If you think poetry and philosophy don’t mix, think again!

On 7 March at 7.30 prompt, David Soulsby, our resident classical scholar, will give a short talk on Lucretius – after which the group will get to grips with translations of some of the most memorable passages.

The event will take place on the first floor meet room of Prospero's Project, which is part of the compound at Much Ado Books.

Space is limited; do book early! Tickets cost £7.50, and include light refreshments. £5 for each ticket will go to a charity to be named.
